Art Pharmacy is proud to announce that Founder & CEO Chris Appleton is Health Care Champion Award honoree for 2024 Rising Star. This inaugural honor by the Atlanta Business Chronicle recognizes the health care industry’s most innovative and influential leaders alongside frontline health care heroes.
The other honorees include nurses, physicians, and community outreach professionals plus the preeminent leaders in health equity, women’s health, pediatric care, rural health and more. Many individuals from other renowned healthcare organizations are included and will be honored at an event in Atlanta on June 6.
“I am honored to receive this award on behalf of the work and innovation that the team at Art Pharmacy is doing,” said Appleton. “Social prescribing in the U.S. is the new reality in healthcare, and we are leading the innovation for payors, health systems and providers.”
As Founder and CEO of Art Pharmacy, Appleton’s vision imagines the U.S. healthcare ecosystem adopting arts-based social prescribing as a critical part of a results-driven mental health field. Prior to founding Art Pharmacy, Appleton co-founded two nonprofit organizations, where he became a national leader in the cross-sector arts movement. Chris and his work have been featured in The New York Times, CNN, ABC, CBS, NPR, Fast Company, and more. He was also featured in a South by Southwest (SXSW) panel in March 2024.
Appleton’s strong commitment to servant leadership, family and civic engagement has led him to be bestowed numerous awards and honors, including the Americans for the Arts National Emerging Leader Award, Emory Center for Creativity and the Arts Community Impact Award, and New Leaders Council Alumni Award, 2019 Class of Leadership Atlanta, Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 40 Under 40, Georgia Trend’s 100 Notable Georgians, Outstanding Atlanta Class of 2014, and World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers.
